Dr. Steven Lake

- He helps people get over it... so they can get on with it

Dr. Lake is an expert in communication and crisis management. He brings a rich and varied background to his work as a public speaker and business consultant having owned businesses (including a franchise) in manufacturing, construction, health, and education.

Dr. Lake honed his crisis management skills while working with Canada's most notorious and violent prisoners in a maximum security prison hospital and responding to emergency calls after bank robberies. He conducts critical incident stress debriefing (CISD) and trainings for organizations that have experienced a critical incident involving: theft, death (e.g., accident, suicide, murder), hostage-taking, harassment and violence in the workplace.

In the area of communication, Dr. Lake brings his experience as a professional actor and director, university lecturer, and psychotherapist to bear on problematic communication. He has a special interest in the male/female communication process and is currently writing a book on this subject entitled "How to Communicate with the Opposite Sex."

Dr. Lake has a PhD in Educational Administration and a Masters in Psychology. In his dissertation he examined the emotional effects on leaders who managed a death in the organization. This led to the creation of a model for effective critical incident management. Steven teaches in the business program at the University of Phoenix and graduate studies at the Adler School of Professional Psychology. He is also nationally certified as a counsellor with the Canadian Counselling Association.
